Looking forward to the Good Old Days
By Spring Safari Chairman Eric Orff
Step back in time to the good old days in Lyme, N.H., at this year’s Spring Safari. Loch Lyme Lodge has 20 well-kept rustic cabins for our exclusive use to settle into for an inexpensive, relaxing weekend. The lodge usually does not open until the following weekend so all the cabins are at our disposal. This is a “pet friendly” place with no additional charge to bring your dog(s). Cabin rates – yes, cabin rates – you get the whole cabin for the night with rates varying from 1-bedroom cabins for $89/night to 2+ bedrooms for $112/night. Share your cabin and bring that price down and share the memories of a time well enjoyed.

From our innkeepers, Jay and Amy Kelly:
We have (6) 1-bedroom cabins, most with a mini-fridge. Typically, they have a king bed in the bedroom with a full bath, living room with fireplace and often another bed or futon in the living room. They all have small porches.
We also have a number of 2-bedroom efficiency cabins available with kitchens or kitchenettes. These have a king or queen bed in the master bedroom and then two twin beds in the other bedroom as well as a full bathroom, a fireplace in the living room and a screened porch.
Firewood is supplied as well as linens, towels, toilet paper, dish detergent, and pump hand soap. There is no daily housekeeping, except for wood delivery and outdoor garbage pickup. If additional towels are needed people can feel free to ask at the lodge. There is no television or telephone in the cabins, but there is wireless Internet in and around the lodge as well as a guest computer in the office, along with phone and fax machine. Some cell phones do not get reception here.

Fishing and Hunting
Post Pond is at hand with both bass and trout ready to catch. Watercraft will be available or launch your craft at the nearby public launch. Just a short drive away is a great public launch on the Connecticut River, giving us access to miles of wonderful fishing.
Our New Hampshire turkey season will be in full swing. Lots of land is open to hunting along the Connecticut River valley, not only on the New Hampshire side, but Vermont is just 3 miles away over a nearby bridge.

Contact New Hampshire Fish and Game and Vermont Fish and Wildlife for information on licenses.
